In 1897, the Original Swiss Army Knife was created in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland. The company legally registers the name Swiss Officers and Sports Knife.
In 1921 owner Karl Elsener created the name Victorinox combining his Mother's name, Victoria with "inox" , a french abbreviation meaning "stainless steel"
In 1945, word of the Swiss Army Brand goes global and GI's from around the world in World War II purchases it from PX's.
In 1989, Victorinox enters the US timepiece market and introduces the "Swiss Army" trademark.
In 2007, Victorinox starts to designate the name "Victorinox Swiss Army" on the dial of each watch manufactured.
2009 saw the 125th year anniversary of Swiss Army Watch.
